Choose the Permissions tab of the Properties dialog box (see Figure
49).

file access rights for different groups of users.
If you are the owner of the file, you can change the permission granted to the file
or directory by checking or un-checking the boxes next to each permission field.
If you are not the owner of the file or directory, you cannot change the permis-
sions of that item unless you first log in as root.
To log in as root temporarily to change file permissions:
1.
Choose System|File manager (Super User Mode) from the main
menu.
A window appears requesting the root password for your Linux system.
2.
Enter the password. A file manager window appears.
3.
Use this file manager window to browse to the file you want to
change.
4.
Use the procedure above (right-click and choose Properties) to update
the file or directory information.
5.
Close the file manager window to end the root-access session.
